Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

I purchased this book on Amazon to #buddyread with my bestie @mycornerforbooksand. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Simon vs. The Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. This book was so cute I read it all in one day! Simon Spier (rhymes with beer) is seventeen and he is “not so openly gay” meets a guy by chance on a social media sight and begins emailing back and forth sharing intimate details with this amazing friend, Blue. But one day it’s all changed by Martin who blackmailed him to help him get a date with Simon’s friend Abby. But Abby is head over heels for Simon’s old friend Nick. But wait Simon’s friend Leah likes Nick. So everybody in Simon’s life just made life complicated and just when he begins to think it can’t be any worse…….its worse. But Simon prevails and piece by piece, person by person Simon somehow gets life back the way it’s supposed to be. To Make Monsters Out of Girls by Amanda Lovelace

I purchased this book from Amazon to read. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟to make monsters out of girls by Amanda Lovelace. There is something so raw and soul cleansing I feel after reading a “Lovelace” book. As long as she keeps writing I will keep buying and reading. Yes it may seem a typical, cliche break up story boy meets girl, girl falls in love, yada, yada, but the way she puts words on paper they drip with true hatred, unconditional love and then rebuilding. The words hit home in a way no words other can. They are so dark and deep you can’t help but feel new when you close the book. I am looking forward to reading To Drink Coffee With a Ghost this fall! Playing For Time by Fania Fenelon

I purchased this book from Amazon to read. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Playing For Time by Fania Fenelon. In 1943, Fania Fenelon was a cabaret singer from Paris. She was a secret member of the Resistance and a new. She was captured by the Nazis and shipped to Auschwictz, then late sent to Bregen-Belsen. The 11 months in captivity she played with the orchestra. The orchestra was a privileged bunch of girls but in reality the horrible things that took place around them did not go unnoticed. The orchestra must continue or all of them would reach fate much sooner than they were ready for it. This book was a marvelous reality of bravery. The terrible things going on and The one thing that kept these women striving was their love for music. Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis

I purchased this book from Amazon to read with my sister. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis. This book got me fired up. I felt like I could accomplish anything after reading it! Set your goals, follow your path, succeed! It all sounds so simple until you stumble, but Rachel has a fool-proof plan. Because lets face it there is always that one stumbling block, it doesn’t mean you can’t reach it, it just means you have to work harder to get that much farther. It’s time to quit apologizing for being who you are and embrace who you were meant to be! The Last Equation of Isaac Severy by Nova Jacobs

I purchased this book from @bookofthemonth to read with my bestie @mycornerforbooksand. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 The Last Equation of Isaac Severy by Nova Jacobs. When we started this book I expected a mystery but it began with death and a letter from Isaac to his granddaughter Hazel. In the letter he left her clues to get to the next clue to deliver his life’s work to a man she needed a clue to find. Isaac Severy and his brothers and their children are all mathematical geniuses and Hazel has always felt like an outsider. The family dynamics of this book are astonishing. The love affairs, the mathematical problems, the clues, the migraines, the crime, the relationships, it felt like watching a soap opera on paper. I didn’t hate it I just didn’t love it. It truly is a novel in clues and every clue leads to another then to another. If that’s your kind of puzzle then this is your book. Shout by Laurie Halse Anderson

I purchased this book from Amazon to read. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Shout by Laurie Halse Anderson. I have wanted to read Shout since I picked up Speak almost a year ago. The two books say something so loud you need to listen. The one thing these two books say is silence to stay quiet. There is no shaming involved but the book was deep, personal, almost so personal anyone can relate. It is about not being silenced when you feel you are wronged either by someone else or by a family member or friend. It is about finding your voice when you feel like you don’t have one. A set of poems that will inspire you to Shout not be silent. Finnikin of The Rock by Melina Marchetta

I purchased this book from Amazon to read with @fictitious.fox as a #buddyread. All opinions are my own. I am not going to rate this book because to be honest I didn’t finish it. While the writing was tolerable I felt the book was too much fantasy. It felt overboard with sorcery and witchery and just over the top. I was reading it in small doses until about 150 pages in when I just said no more. It reads a lot like Game of Thrones meets Skyrim or some such thing. I am a fan of neither so therefore had a hard time being drawn into this one. It is a book my teenage son might enjoy he likes high fantasy and while I can enjoy some this one was not one I enjoyed. Finnikin’s world is shattered after the killing of the King and his heirs and 10 years later Finnikin and his mentor are lead to a novice prophet of sorts that claims she has spoken to the heir, Balthazar. Evanjalin claims Balthazar is alive and will lead Finnikin to him so that they together can figure out how to reclaim the throne, well after they undo the curse of course. The Wicked King By Holly Black

I purchased this book from Half Priced Books to read with my bestie @mycornerforbooksand. All opinions are my own. πŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸŒŸπŸ‘‘The Wicked KingπŸ‘‘ by Holly Black. Ok so given the title I knew Cardan was a jerk and he was a jerk in book 1 but I had high hopes because Jude had him bound by Faerie rules, and for a while she held her own as strong willed Jude does. However, in a moment of weakness following her capture, feeling lovesick, and her twin sister being the cruelest sister in the galaxy she was duped yet again. Now Cardan sits on his throne and she is sorting her next plan of action. All I can say is The Roach and The Bomb better have a plan cause life is about to get real in Faerie! I was so mad at the end of this one I almost threw the book…..almost, but I have to save it because book 3 comes out in January, so it will sit on my shelf until then.
