Olivia Twist by Lorie Langdon

I purchased this book from Amazon to read. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Olivia Twist by Lorie Langdon. A twist on an old Dickens classic that will have you on the edge of your seat. This book is a love story within a love story full of thieves, robbers, cops, upper society, and a murder in less than 400 pages. It is an edge of the seat read that will have you rooting for the bad guys just as much as you are hoping for the good guys! I am happy this was my choice for my final book of 2018! Here is to bringing on more books in 2019 that will keep us all occupied! People Like Us by Dana Mele

I purchased this book to read. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 People Like Us by Dana Mele. Kay has a reputation to uphold. She must fit in her senior year, she must get that soccer scholarship, she must move forward. Until one night after a school dance a body is found, Kay is sent on a computer based scavenger hunt made by the murderer to keep herself off the list of suspects she must solve the riddles within. Soon though this hunt causes the athletics program to be cancelled and causes her world to collapse putting everything in jeopardy. Her friendships begin to fall apart, her reputation threatened, her past decisions continue to haunt every aspect of her world. Sometimes the friends you’ve kept close are the ones you’ve hurt the most and trusting others hurts. While I was able to figure out the who pretty quickly it wasnt until the big reveal I understood the why. Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis

I purchased this book to read with my sister. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis. I had seen this book on Instagram, Twitter and various blogs but didn’t rush out to buy it right away until my sister said, “we have to read this together.” My sister and I choose a book every month and read one chapter a day until we are finished this was her choice. I was presently surprised at just how real and how touching this book was. Hollis writes about her own life in a way you can relate to no matter what you are or don’t realize that you are struggling with. An amazing book that every female should read. The Night Before by Wendy Walker

I won this book in a Giveaway on Goodreads. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The Night Before by Wendy Walker. This book will keep you guessing from page 1. The I have to know what happens next came on strong with this one. I read the book in less than one day and if I could have gotten away with not sleeping I would have stayed up last night to finish it. Hahaha. Walker has a way of keeping you on your toes until the reveal and when it came I actually was like whoa wait I didn’t see that coming. Laura has issues with dating the wrong men, Rosie, Laura’s sister spends her time caring for her family and worrying about her sister’s choices. Until one day what Rosie and Laura know isn’t what they should have known their whole lives. For Better And Worse by Margot Hunt

I purchased this book from @bookofthemonth to read. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 For Better and Worse by Margot Hunt. It’s funny how we all have those moments when we can say, “this is the moment or weekend my life changed forever” that is exactly what this book was the moment everything changed forever. Natalie carefully went through life avoiding the stuff that would upset her “perfect” world until after one weekend no matter what happened she wouldn’t ever be the same again, not for her, her husband or their son. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

Every year at Christmas the kids and I reread A Christmas Carol By Charles Dickens but this year I won a copy of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Illustated by Francine Haskins and Afterword by Kyra E. Hicks on Library Thing. This popular classic was not changed it was wonderfully illustrated with contemporary line drawings as it brings all of the characters to life as Black Victorians. The Afterword highlights over 100 African Americans, Black British and Canadian actors that have performed A Christmas Carol over the last century demonstrating this story belongs to everyone. Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa

I purchased this book from Amazon to read with #ReadingButterfliesDecember2018 All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa. First the cover is beautiful, second this book is action packed, and lastly you can feel the emotions written in the words. I did find it hard to separate which chapter was which characters pov maybe if the chapter heading had been by person it would have flowed better. Yumeko is thrust into the real world on an impossible mission with a man she should not trust. The battles and the people she meet along the way all see her naivety but do not see the true being she is and the secrets she hides. I am looking forward to Book 2 when it releases next year. The Dire King by William Ritter

I purchased this book from Amazon to read. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The Dire King by William Ritter. Abigail and Jackaby must attempt to save the world as they know it. Of course all of their ready made plans are not going to go as planned and it ends up going terrible awry. I love the references to older poems and Shakespearean in this book. I love how History remains to be written and how it gets referred to in this book. I think now Ritter should begin a Rook series because it needs to be done!!!!! The Jackaby Series feels like it will always be something I can go back to and read again. Maybe then I can see it the way Jackaby does. 10 years ago Jenny Cavanaugh’s world changed for eternity and as she begins to run through the emotions of what happened then she sets in motion a way to change her world once again. New Fiddleham is full of paranormal both good and evil and I can’t wait to get to Book 4!
