The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

I recieved this book from the publisher @flatiron books after winning a contest on Instagram @purewow bookclub. And I read it with my bookstagram bestie @mycornerforbooksand. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert. Alice is a teenage girl who has spent most of her life moving from one place to the next but after receiving a strange message about the death of her grandmother her and her mother, Ella, settle down in New York. Alice doesn’t fit into the “rich” school or with the new husband her mother has chosen. And one day she comes home and the entire world has shifted. Everyone in her family is missing and she has only one “sort of” friend she can count on, Finch. After her and Finch set off to find her missing mother life becomes more and more complicated and even more creepy than before. But to end it, she must discover the beginning of it. All the way back to “Once upon a time…..” This was an easy read and while it resembles a fairy tale retelling of sorts with creepy, mysterious turns, it truly is a story of its own. Review also posted on Instagram @borenbooks, Library Thing, Goodreads/StacieBoren, Go Read, Amazon, and Twitter @jason_stacie.
