Shadow Weaver by Marcy Kate Connolly

I received this ARC from #kidlitexchange to read in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Shadow Weaver by Marcy Kate Connolly is a wonderful middle grade read. Emmeline was born with a very special gift, she can weave shadows into shapes and objects by controlling them. Since her parents and their servants are afraid of her she has had a very long time to work on her magic alone. She befriends and talks to her own shadow, Dar, and they become best friends. After a few tragic events Emmeline’s parents make arrangements with evil to have Emmeline sent away to be cured. Emmeline becomes scared and her and Dar make a plan to set things right by making Dar a real person but they must run away to stay safe until the night of the blood moon. Quickly after running away Emmeline discovers she isn’t sure Dar can be trusted and she meets another little boy, Lucas. Lucas has a magical power too. He can bend light. Together they form a bond and Emmeline knows what it feels like to have a real friend and the price you pay when someone you care for gets hurt because she withheld the truth of what she knew. Middle graders everywhere can enjoy this read January 2018. Review also posted on Instagram @jasonnstacie, Library Thing, Goodreads/StacieBoren, Go Read, Amazon, and my blog at readsbystacie.com
